I love the Umbra pattern so much that I've now made two sets of lounge wear. It's a joy to sew and comfortable to wear. I recommend this pattern to anyone who would love to make lounge wear. I'm secretly hoping that Fibr & Cloth comes out with more lounge wear patterns :)
I usually prefer a leather thimble for stitching, but for certain stitching this open top metal thimble is the one I turn to. And in fact I have more than one of this exact thimble tucked away where I will need one. Only the smallest size works for me, although my hands are not particularly small.
Great seam ripper. I appreciate the red ball on one tip to help keep ripping neater. I also love the cap and the length of it. I had been using the little one that came with my sewing machine for ages but this one is more comfortable to use.
I originally ordered this thimble as a part of a hand sewing notions kit a while back. Unfortunately, I lost my travel sewing kit along with this thimble. So I bought two to replace! It took me a bit of time to get used to this style thimble, but I prefer it now.
This was such a satisfying make, and I love the different styles/hacks that motivate me to try this pattern more than once. Instructions were relatively easy to follow. My only personal wish is for the neck to be narrower on the tie version, but I'll adjust that on my own.
This kit is my third kit purchase from Fibr & Cloth. It’s a splurge I feel zero guilt about because it helps me improve my handsewing skills -I find the directions easy to follow - and the kit always turns into something I want to wear. Plus the Photina is zero-waste!
I spotted this beautiful lounge set in the making magazine and fall immediatelly in love with it! Because Alexis had reviewed the pattern and had made adjustments, she was so kind to send me the updated pattern, which I strongly recommend! Being a total sewing newbie (at least, machine sewing), I was very excited but also a bit intimidated, whether I would be able to manage it. But no worries: Alexis explains everything so well and easily understandable! And I absolutely love the result (used a linen cloth) - thank you very much for such a lovely and well-written pattern!
Great blouse and an easy sew. Do want to try the dress version. The width of your fabric does make a big difference so pay attention when ordering fabric. I did have to pull out a few different fabrics from my stash to find the one with correct width and length.
I really loved making the Iris Blouse. I'd bought the fabric with a different blouse pattern in mind, for a particular "look" I had in mind (early music performance, sleek all-black ensemble). Then I saw the awesome #bhmpatterndesigners challenge, and remembered I wanted to try this pattern out. The stars aligned! Dear reader, I bought it. I used new fabric and old buttons and, arguably, an ancient mindset in clothes making, made new and modern in Alexis's design. I cut carefully (beautiful but shifty fabric), sewed lovingly, and wore the blouse in my concert with great style and comfort. Brava, Fibr & Cloth Studio!
Ordered this to use for mending. Appreciate the quality and colors.
This pattern is written well and the instructions are very detailed. I really appreciate the illustrations! I love all of the variations, as they make great wardrobe staples. This dress is one of my favorites and I'm already planning to make more!
This is such a lovely blouse, a joy to make and wear. Really appreciate that it is zero waste, so there's no extra printing costs or fiddly cutting. The instructions and notes are clear and it comes together so easily. I'm a very slow maker but I this just seemed to sew itself. And the result is stunning. It's one of those few makes that people always comment on, even strangers. Thoroughly recommend.
I love the Linen Coaster kit. I bought a 2nd kit for my 10yr old granddaughter. A perfect start on her hand sewing journey. It would be nice to see this kit in the kids classrooms. Thank you!
I love the needs, the snips, the strings, all of it. I recommend these kits to anyone who will listen. I loved the little fabric book too.
I was sewing patches on my dad's sweatshirt for his Christmas present. Saved my fingers and helped go faster. Thank you.
